SCHOLARSHIP AWARD 2024
TO BE AWARDED AT THE DISCRETION OF THE SCHOLARSHIP COMMITTEE
CRITERIA:

Membership in Pineville United Methodist Church

Membership means a professing member; one who has taken the membership vows for Pineville United Methodist Church
-
Acceptance by an institution of higher learning including:

2- or 4-year institution of higher learning
-
Community College
-
Vocational/Technical School
-
For the Wellene Griffin Scholarship, applicant must be accepted into a program within the Medical/Health Services field.

Completion of TYPED application (attached) and TYPED written essay.

Writing criteria for ALL essays:
Minimum 300-word essay; 12 pt font, Times New Roman, double-spaced. Essay should be saved as a PDF and uploaded at the end of the scholarship application form.

The Baker scholarship and the Wellene Griffin scholarship have two different essay topics. See pages 5 and 6 for those topics.

Please treat your essay with the seriousness of a college/job application.

A person can reapply each year scholarship (Baker and Griffin) for up to four years for each scholarship type.

A person in the medical/health services field may apply for BOTH the Baker and the Wellene Griffin Scholarships but the applicant must write two separate essays (see last 2 pages). Applying to both does not necessarily mean an applicant will be awarded both.

Deadline: The deadline for completed applications is May 15th, 2024 at 11:59 pm.
Applications must be submitted through the form found on the website. Applications (including essay) that are not complete and/or not received by the deadline will NOT be considered.

Answer every question and upload your essay (minimum 300 words).

Your reasons for wanting to continue your education, your career goal, and why you selected a particular career.

Topic for second, third, or fourth award/reapplication:
What have been the most rewarding and the most challenging parts of your educational experience?
How have you seen God at work in your educational experiences and/or life?
Your Essay should be typed and uploaded as a PDF with a minimum of 300 words. Please include a heading with your name and essay title as well.
